German course in Frankfurt

Posted in Frankfurt forum

Hey everybody!
I'm thinking of going to Frankfurt for a time to improve my German.
Does anyone of you know a good address for a German course for foreigners in Frankfurt? I'm searching for one that has a small number of students so that you have to speak a lot.

    Hi Ricardo!
I think it depends on what you job like. For every decent job it's almost normal that you have a good level of English. You would get further if you could speak German, too (can you?).
I'm fine here with a job in a bar...for serving drinks you don't need a high qualification ;)

    Guten tag:

My name is Ricardo and I´m looking for somebody who is studing an International Program at the University or is working overthere.

Gonzalo, I heard that Tandem Courses are great and are not very expensive. I think it depends on the courses and the hours you take per month. Anyway, if you are thinking on staying overthere for a long time, I think you have to take a look to the VHS in Frankfurt but I don´t know how are the courses.

Could you tell me how is the Job overthere? Is it easy to get a simple job if you read, speak and writte English?

    Thank you.

Yes, I already heard that in courses at the VHS there are many people and you don't learn that much. But maybe it'll help me to get a better clue of the German grammar...

You might want to try out the Volkshochschule (VHS). They offer courses quite cheaply, though they're not that great.

Hmm it's a pity. Seems like I have to save a lot of money for a decent course ...

I believe that the subsidized courses are only available for people who want to become long-term residents...

    Hi Raquelle!
That sounds great, but I don't think to stay longer than a year in Frankfurt. Can I become a resident in Frankfurt despite that? Is it worth it (just to get these free lessons)?

If you become a resident in Frankfurt, you can also get up to 600 hours of government subsidized language lessons. These are part of the "Integrationskurse" (integration courses for foreigners). More info here: http://www.frankfurt.de/sixcms/detail.php?id=2889&_ffmpa

It's definitely worth checking because you do save a lot of money!

Hi Gonzalo! Prices of German courses in Frankfurt really depend on how many classes you want per week. If you're looking for 4-5 hours every day, you should rather calculate with some 500 Euros per month. If you take less classes, things get cheaper. Good luck with learning German!

Hi Dora, thanks for your help!
I just checked the prices...honestly I had no idea how much I would have to pay for a course.
Are ~300Euro a "normal" price for 4 weeks or can I get cheaper ones, too?
