I want to know about the difference between the circuit breaker and switchgear as I am on to my project and getting confused between this. If anyone can explain to me in simple terms.

Thank you.

A circuit breaker is an automatically-operated electrical switch designed to protect an electrical circuit from damage caused by overload or short circuit. Its basic function is to operate immediately after detection of a fault condition by the relay and, by interrupting continuity, to immediately discontinue electrical flow. Switchgear is the combination of electrical disconnect switches and circuit breakers used to control, protect and isolate electrical equipment. Switchgear is used both to de-energize equipment to allow work to be done and to clear fault downstream. This type of equipment is directly linked to the reliability of the electric supply.
